Para los que ya viven o están pensando en vivir en la Florida y tienen hijos que pronto irán a cursar el tercero grado, les pasamos abajo algunas informaciones útiles:
Los costos para cursar universidades y politécnicos (colleges) (*) en la Florida varian entre $8-50k al año. Las “community colleges” son las más económicas ($8-10k) y la estrategia económica de muchos estudiantes es hacer los 2 primeros años en una community college y terminar la graduación en una universidad de renombre. Además del hecho de que asi será más fácil para entrar directamente en las mejores universidades.
Las Community Colleges están en todas partes y en dónde decidas vivir, siempre habrá una cerca o más o menos cercana a su residencia. Las de Miami, Fort Lauderdale y West Palm Beach sabemos que son buenas, pero hay muchas más en otras partes de la Florida.
De las universidades que más hemos escuchado y visto revisiones buenas son: FIU (Florida International University, Miami), Nova University (Fort Lauderdale), FAU (Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton) y UCF (University of Central Florida, Orlando, que incluso está en el 4º. lugar en el rango de las mejores escuelas).

(*) Diferencia entre “University” y “College”
COLLEGE:
Una pequeña instituición de ensino que tipicamente ofrece programas de pregrado. Algunas “colleges”, como las “community colleges” y “junior colleges” en general ofrecen cursos de 2 años. La mayoría de las colleges ofrecen bachillerato y algunas asociado.
UNIVERSITY:
Una instituición que ofrece grados e pregrados. Las universidades ofrecen grados que pueden posteriormente llevar a grados de máster y doctorado. Estas instituciones también pueden tener cursos de medicina o derecho. En general, las universidades tienen más opciones de cursos que las colleges.
